Situated in the central region of Europe, Switzerland is among the most sought after holiday destination. The country of Switzerland is best acknowledged for its mountainous range (Jura in northwest, Alps in south) but if you ever happen to visit the place you would realize that the region is dotted with many pretty lakes, plains, hills and pastures.

Although Switzerland is a beautiful destination all through the year, summer is most suitable if you are looking forward to spend some time outdoor and indulge in open-air activities. Summer in Switzerland begins from June and ends in the month of September. Being the peak tourist season, during this time around you will find a heavy crowd of tourist and visitors. Prices of hotels in Switzerland soar very high, availability of hotel rooms dip and places of interest becomes crowded. But if you visit Switzerland during the months of April to May and from late September to October, you will find relatively much rates and less crowded places of interest, restaurants, hotels and location. If you are looking forward to indulge in winter sports then do check into any of the resorts located in the region of Alps.

Switzerland and skiing go hand in hand, so when we took a winter vacation at the end of January 2008 to Arosa, we knew that we had to go skiing. (Debra) grew up skiing, yet for (Edward) this would be his skiing debut. After years of hearing about (my) former skiing escapades, he was finally ready to try to learn this alpine sport, as the weather was perfect, and the slopes were in optimum condition.

Since we would only be skiing for a few days during our trip, we opted to rent our ski equipment rather than check it on the plane, and then carry it on the train enroute to Arosa. On a bright, sunny morning, our driver from the Tschuggen Grand Hotel drove us to Carmenna Sport where Barbie one of the technicians at the shop, outfitted us with skis, poles, and boots. Although we get along very well, we decided that for the sake of our sanity, as well as in the best interest of all parties involved, that (Edward) should have someone other than (Debra) teach him how to ski. By the time (Edward’s) Ski Instructor, Kurli Zippert-Elderkin of the Schweizer Ski- und Snowboardschule (Swiss Ski and Snowboard School), arrived at Carmenna Sport to pick us up, we were fully equipped and looked every bit like skiers, and anxious to hit the slopes.

Not since Valencia gained the boost of having the European Grand Prix awarded to it from 2008 to 2014 has a property market had such a boost from Formula One. All eyes are on Switzerland as Lewis Hamilton’s move to the Alpine country opens the prospect of increasing interest in the investments available on the pistes.

Hamilton, of course, is leaving in part to escape the media clamour, leaving his home town of Stevenage to find peace and tranquility among the mountains. He is not alone in his sport in seeking a Swiss hideaway, as the Times has pointed out, noting that Kimmi Raikkonen, the man who pipped Hamilton to the title, seven times former champion Michael Schumacher and the boss of the sport, Bernie Ecclestone, all have homes in the country.

Economic growth is expected to slow to about 2% in 2008 and 2009, close to the potential rate, with a diminished contribution from net exports. Employment should continue rising, although unemployment may not fall much further. Inflation is projected to rise modestly, reflecting past oil price rises and a high level of capacity utilisation. The government budget surplus will decline.

Should economic growth remain solid in 2008, as projected, a further quarter point increase in policy interest rates is likely to be necessary. Comprehensive removal of remaining non-tariff trade barriers vis à vis the EU would stimulate competition and trade, raising supply capacity, as would further measures to facilitate market entry in network industries.

The soldier released his parachute mid-air. He reaches the ground and wades through a murky swamp, making sure to raise his rifle above his head. He uses his compass to move towards the coordinates he was given. Then, he peers through his binoculars and sees the fortress that he and his battalion have to storm for a search and rescue mission. After surveying the place for a few minutes, he grabs the communications receiver attached his uniform belt and calls headquarters. They inform him that he and his battalion have to strike at exactly 16:00. The soldier looks at his wrist, only to discover that he had left his Swiss army watch at the base!

The Army, the Army! Switzerland’s military has the characteristics of both a regular army and a militia. It is probably best known for its up-to-date equipment, including Swiss army watches. The army’s origins can be traced to the Old Swiss Confederacy’s cantonal troops. This group had two functions: it may be called upon to help its own members, or to fight outside threats. These armies were later changed to a federal army. In the late 1980s, the size of the Swiss army began to shrink, and the trend continues to this day.

Pilot Your Way Through Life Among all the Swiss armed forces, the Swiss Air Force is the smallest. Consequently, there is much competition to get positions as aircraft pilots. In fact, at the age of 16, parachutists and potential pilots must conduct training during their own spare time. One can join a unit of candidate pilots after finishing officer school and finishing basic training. Though you may not join the Swiss Army, you must practice or train hard for any type of position you wish to have. A Swiss army watch can assist you in this undertaking by ensuring that you keep appointments and follow schedules.

An Engineering Marvel Soldiers training for Switzerland’s military learn several practical lessons. Although they are far from begin boy scouts, the Swiss Army lives by the same rule. “Be prepared” is a mantra Swiss soldiers have to live out. It is thus not surprising that Swiss army items, such as the Swiss army watch, are engineered with the same mantra in mind. The Swiss army watch, like the Swiss Army itself, is ready for just about any blow or challenge. Designed to be durable, classy, and precise, the Swiss army watch is the very epitome of everything that’s wonderful and amazing about Swiss engineering.

Keeping Time Uniquely What makes a Swiss army watch so distinctive? The first is the workmanship. The Swiss, in general, are expert watchmakers. Switzerland is even touted as the watch-making center of the world. The Swiss are such excellent watchmakers, in fact, watchmaking is one of the country’s oldest, if not the largest, industry. The Swiss government supports watchmaking in every way, including establishing schools and courses for training people in the craft of making Swiss army watches. Other reasons a Swiss army watch is on a league of its own include remarkable finish, durability, precision, and incredible attention to detail.

So, should you get your own Swiss army watch? The answer is a resounding yes. A Swiss army watch will not only help you keep track of of time, it will let you keep time accurately and uniquely.
